In this Lecture, I will discuss the Rise of the Macedonians and Alexander the Great in what becomes the Hellenistic Age. In the 4th century , Alexander the Great famously conquers the Achaemenid (Persian) Empire which led to the Spread of Greek Culture into the Near East.

Here are some basic topics that I will cover in this Lecture on various historical events or famous people associated with Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic Age:

Who were the Macedonians? Who was King Philip II of Macedon? Who was Alexander the Great? Who were some famous historical writers on Alexander the Great?  Which king of Persia does Alexander the Great defeat? What were some famous battles that Alexander the Great was known for? What parts of the Near East were conquered by Alexander?  What was the Hellenistic Age? What happened to Alexander the Great's Empire after he died very young?
What Macedonian kingdoms developed in Hellenistic Age following the death of Alexander the Great?

This Lecture includes a short video clip on Alexander the Great from the Decisive Battles series "Battle of Gaugamela".
